The Luxe List 2012, China: Four Seasons Guangzhou

Skyscraper hotels have become almost commonplace over the past decade, but this Four Seasons, inhabiting the upper 30 floors of the 100-story Guangzhou International Finance Center (world’s 10th highest tower), still manages to thrill.

Express elevators zip guests to a vast lobby, where floor-to-ceiling windows provide a dazzling outlook over the Pearl River New City district, whose architectural attractions include a Zaha Hadid–designed opera house. Rooms start at 52 square meters, all with sweeping views of their own. And amenities are top-notch, from Reson8 iPod speakers to L’Occitane toiletries, adding a big splash of style to the city’s new business district

5 Zhujiang Zhujiang Xi Lu, Tianhe; 86-20/8883-3888; fourseasons.com; doubles from US$380.
