3-Little-Pigs-RibsIn a country where the typical greeting is, “Have you eaten yet?” you will never find yourself at a loss for food. Spend a little longer though, and you may find yourself homesick for a few staples, including ever-illusive pork. Restaurants in Malaysia are meticulously classified as either halal or non-halal, based on whether they abide by particular food preparation methods under Islamic law. The Three Little Pigs plants itself firmly in the sinful category with a menu based around the humble pig, from traditional favorites including a rack of ribs and thick-sliced bacon, to more ingenious concoctions like carrot-bacon soup and deep-fried Mars chocolate bars. The restaurant also has a second identity in the evening when its chalkboards and shutters are pulled back to transform the space into a dimly lit wine bar. Playfully dubbed The Big Bad Wolf based on the children’s fable, the restaurant has a stock of more than 600 bottles and plans for even more locations. Owned and managed by husband and wife duo, Inggrid and Julian Yauwaluddin, the store opened one year ago with another KL branch already in the works.
