Six Senses Launches Earth Lab

Six Senses is going even greener with the recent launch of Earth Lab, created to track and promote in-house sustainability efforts across all its properties worldwide. Here, guests can join workshops to learn simple ways to live more sustainably and take a closer look at the brand’s impressive range of initiatives: harnessing renewable energy from biomass and solar power, developing natural insecticides and cleaning solutions to replace harmful chemical agents, and much more. At Earth Lab, bees are kept to pollinate local crops and produce honey for resort restaurants—which source their fruit and vegetables from in-house organic gardens—while oils are extracted from plants for spa treatments. Six Senses’ zero-waste policy is also a major talking point, with landscaping waste fed to milk-producing goats, and in places where recycling is not available, crushed glass is reused in flower pots, paving stones, and light fixtures. For an unconventional souvenir, Earth Lab’s seed bank allows you to take samples and grow organic produce back home—a process made easier with its DIY videos on Youtube.
