Move over, City of Lights: a glitzy new
Parisian has surfaced on Macau’s Cotai
casino strip, right next to The Venetian. You can’t miss the half-scale replica Eiffel Tower marking the entrance, with 6,600 twinkling lights and a 360-degree observation deck. Modeled on the palatial grandeur of Versailles, this US$2.7 billion integrated resort by Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson features 3,000 rooms and suites in chic tones of rouge and gold, plus 12 dining outlets, including the highly popular provincial Chinese restaurant Lotus Palace. Magnificent interiors are adorned in colorful marbles, gold-framed mirrors, flocked wallpapers, and frescoed ceilings. An ever-present symphonic soundtrack adds to the air of exuberance, and makes you feel rather like Charlize Theron in a J’adore perfume commercial. Glide along arcades named Champs-Élysées and Place Vendôme to discover edgy French fashion boutiques, a chandelier-strung casino, and pop-up mime or can-can performances. The 1,200-seat Parisian Theatre hosts shows like Thriller Live from London’s West End, while families will enjoy the vast kids’ playground Qube Kingdom, with a full-size vintage carousel and waterslides in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. It’s all fanciful French-themed fun. (853/2882-8833;;
 doubles from US$186).
