Jackie Peers hails from Christchurch, New Zealand, where she used to run a busy wedding and portrait studio for over 12 years. Now based in Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong, her projects have broadened to include snapping pics for local magazines and running photography tours.

Peers’ photo walks are a great way to immerse yourself in the vibrant backstreets of Hong Kong, or venture outside the city center and explore the abandoned villages of the New Territories.

What makes a good photographer?

Being so passionate about a subject matter that you can bring it to life in an image.

What is the approach you take in your tours?

After assessing your level of expertise with the camera, I’ll set you some tasks to improve your style of work, constantly working with the elements of composition. The mission is that each tour participant learns in relation to their camera, and takes their work to the next level.

If you could give someone only one photography tip, what would it be?

Take more photos. One of the best ways to improve your photography is to capture as many images as you can.

Peer’s photo tours start at US$115. Learn more here.
