Lisbon’s Legacy in Macao


It’s all too easy to skip Portuguese colonial influence in Macao these days as the lights of the island’s casino strip become bigger and brighter. But Lisbon’s legacy remains entrenched in Macao’s streets, from Catholic architecture and influences to cooking. As a seafaring nation and principal spice trader, Portugual is known for cod, cinnamon and the ubiquitous piri-piri chili and black pepper that complement dishes such as squid and sardines. DestinAsian’s video team went off in search of three of the island’s Portuguese restaurants.
